BlackBerry And Foxconn Team Up To Produce Budget Handsets

BlackBerry's condition hasn't improved in the past one year. In Q3, the Canadian phone maker sold only 1.1 million BB 10 based phones, out of a total 4.3 million devices sold. The number counts the sales of the BlackBerry Z10, Q10, Z30 and Q5, which is mediocre to say the least.

The company has now teamed up with Foxconn, who will help them produce budget handsets. This will (hopefully) help in better market penetration of BB 10 devices. Meanwhile, BlackBerry's Waterloo branch will continue to work on high-end devices. But we probably won't be seeing multiple flagship updates in the same year from now on.

2014 is going to be a tough year for BlackBerry. While BBM is certainly doing well, the company needs to sell more of its own devices if it hopes to survive and not just run out of cash.
