Sexy Stiletoes

Fashion is fickle. And while trends come and go out of style, stilettos are something that have been here for a long time and don’t seem to be going anywhere   ̶ but who’s complaining? While there are many kinds of heels available nowadays, stilettos are any heels that are more than two inches long, slim and have a diameter not more than 0.4 inch.

The history

This empowering weapon’s history can be traced back to the 18th century when high heels were worn only by prostitutes or considered as a fetish item. However, in the 50s stilettos gained popularity. During the 50s and 60s, actresses such as Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield were seen sporting pumps with stiletto heels, making them look downright sexy. Since then there has been no looking back.

The comeback

Some may argue that during the 80s and 90s, stilettos had taken a backseat and women were seen wearing wedges, clogs and block heels. But the good news is that in 2000, slender and sleek heels made a comeback and are still very much in vogue. Movies such as Sex And the City and The Devil Wears Prada have made stilettos even more popular.

The craze

While every coin has two sides, stilettos may be sultry and sexy, but they aren’t quite comfortable and come with their share of foot problems, but, well, when did fashion become practical, right? Besides, stilettos have been in style for so long for a reason. Pick a pair and you are instantly transformed from drab to diva. Besides adding a few inches to your height and elongating your legs, a pair of stilettos is your direct ticket to sexiness and femininity. Wearing stilettos will help you improve your posture and alter your gait to a hip-swaying strut. Whether it is strappy, pumps or pointed toes, the style may change but the heels are here to stay!
